Naturalist Experience via Hike or UTV
Adventurers are afforded a chance to view bears and goats in alpine meadows, salmon in the creek and hidden treasures of berries, mushrooms and medicinal plants all native to this temperate rainforest.
Looking for a quest to get the entire family out to play and learn something new in the fresh air? Visit Chugach Base Camp!
This expedition, as with all of our adventures, is completely customizable. Need to take out a group? Want more time for photography, exploring, or family bonding? Have a specific subject you would like to learn about? Call your Alaska Adventure Team for more options.
Your Alaska Adventure Guide will share details about the history of the area, local flora and fauna to include edible berries and plants and traditional medicinal uses. In late summer, this forest affords a fungus lovers paradise which we will also discuss as they begin to grow. The complete adventure is 1.5 hours in duration.
Chugach Base Camp is located in the northernmost reaches of the Pacific coast temperate rainforest. This is the largest temperate rainforest on the planet which begins in Northern California, traverses 2500 coastal miles, and ends a short distance from our facility. Tiaga, also known as Boreal or snow forest, is just across the river and visible from camp. This, the world’s largest land biome begins its journey here and sprawls all the way to Siberia.
